Where to Eat (and Drink) Right Now: June Edition
PNW Eats That Stole the Show This Month
If there’s one thing I can promise you—it’s that I take my meals seriously. June was packed with everything from vegan sandwiches that slapped harder than expected to scallop risotto served on the waterfront. Whether I was photographing a restaurant or just out for a bite, I found some serious gems across the Pacific Northwest. If you’re looking for where to eat in Astoria, Raymond, Tokeland, and beyond—this one’s for you.
Here’s a roundup of what made this month so damn delicious:
Fort George Brewery – Astoria, OR
Best for: Craft beer, vegan comfort food, and elevated pub bites
Don’t sleep on the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich—even if you’re not vegan. This crispy, spicy sandwich is 100% plant-based and still manages to blow most traditional versions out of the water. I paired it with the Jamaican Jerk Wings, which pack a smoky, tangy punch and are perfect alongside any one of Fort George’s iconic craft beers. If you’re hunting down the best breweries in Astoria, Fort George delivers—every single time.
The Pitchwood – Raymond, WA
Best for: Tacos, cocktails, and casual small-town charm
Every Tuesday, The Pitchwood rolls out Taco Tuesday specials with your choice of chicken, pork, or beef tacos. Local favorite? All three. Add in their rotating craft cocktail menu, cozy bar vibe, and seriously good bar food, and this place easily ranks among the best restaurants in Raymond, WA.
Akres on the Pier – Astoria, OR
Best for: Riverfront dining, date-night vibes, and a menu that surprises
As both a photographer and someone who loves good food, I hit the jackpot with Akres on the Pier. This newly opened Astoria restaurant offers upscale dining with cozy charm—think chandeliers, comfy seating, and riverfront views. I got to sample a little of everything: aguachile, scallop risotto, a Mediterranean spread of hummus, tabbouleh, and tzatziki, and their striploin steak to go, which was tender, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. If you’re looking for romantic restaurants in Astoria or a special spot for anniversaries or celebrations, Akres is it.
Bonus: My friend ordered the clam chowder and the hummus platter and raved about both. Pro tip: Don’t forget a cider on the side.
The Wandering Goose – The Tokeland Hotel, Tokeland, WA
Best for: Coastal brunch and mimosas that don’t stop
This quirky coastal hotel hides one of my new favorite brunch spots. I went for the Oyakodon, a savory Japanese rice bowl with chicken and soft egg that warmed my soul. Paired it with a couple mimosas (because balance) and enjoyed the slow, cozy morning vibes. It’s easily one of the best places to brunch in Tokeland, WA.
Millville Pizza Co. – Gig Harbor, WA
Best for: Vegan-friendly pizza that doesn’t skimp on flavor
Let me be clear: I’m dairy-free, but I still want melty, crispy, delicious pizza. Millville Pizza Co. delivered with their pepperoni pizza topped with vegan cheese. Add their friendly staff and fresh ingredients, and it’s no wonder this little pizzeria is gaining traction as one of the top pizza spots in Gig Harbor.
Las Maracas – Raymond, WA
Best for: Quick, classic Mexican food that hits the spot
Stopped here for a casual lunch and ordered the chile verde. Big flavor, tender pork, and a side of beans and rice that brought it all together. Las Maracas is exactly what you want when you need something comforting and satisfying in Raymond, WA.
McMenamins Olympic Club – Centralia, WA
Best for: Historic vibes, hearty bowls, and a chill drink spot
I always love coming here. It’s a fun date-night spot with shuffleboard, pool tables, and even pinball machines! I almost always order a Jamaican Rice Bowl because it’s absolutely packed with flavor and totally satisfying. Add a McMenamins cider to the mix and you’ve got the perfect stop for lunch or dinner while road-tripping through Centralia.
Jeremy’s Farm to Table – Chehalis, WA
Best for: Fresh farm-to-table meals and a killer margarita
I wrapped up the month with fish tacos and a margarita at Jeremy’s Farm to Table, and honestly? It was the perfect combo. Local ingredients, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere make this a must-visit if you're passing through Chehalis.
June was full of good eats, but it was also a reminder of just how many incredible small-town restaurants are absolutely crushing it. As a food and branding photographer, I love nothing more than highlighting these spots—not just with photos, but by sharing my real experiences.
